If you’re looking for hotels near the Fort Moore area, we’ve got you covered. There are actually a variety of options available, so whether you’re visiting friends and family at Fort Moore, going to a military graduation, or just passing through, you’ll find the perfect hotel to make your stay enjoyable and comfortable.
There are a couple of hotels actually on the Fort Moore Campus, but a lot of people stay in nearby towns. The two closest towns are Columbus, GA, and Phenix City, AL. The towns are actually right next to each other, on the Georgia-Alabama border, and are split by the Chattahoochee River.
Both Columbus and Phenix City are about a 20-30 minute drive to the Fort, and rates for many hotels in these towns run only around $100 per night or less. So you can stay in either downtown Columbus or downtown Phenix City and have an easy drive into the Fort while saving some money.
If you’re flying in to the area, the Columbus Airport serves the area and is serviced by Delta. You can take a flight in from the Atlanta airport.

The Holiday Inn Express Abrams Hall and Gavin House (below) are by far the most convenient option on the list. It’s actually located inside of Fort Moore. It’s also priced well, at around $150 per night. For these reasons it got the top choice of all the hotels on the list.
Amenities include a fitness center, complimentary breakfast, and complimentary coffee in the lobby. Free parking inside the Fort is of course a nice bonus too. Lastly, there is a business center with a computer and internet if you need to get any work done while you’re there.
There is a small covered playground on the hotel grounds, so if you’re coming with small kids that can be a help.

IHG Army Hotels Gavin House

Like the Holiday Inn, Gavin House is on the campus of Fort Moore and so is by far one of the most convenient options. And like Holiday Inn, Gavin House also offering free parking inside Fort Moore, which saves you both the hassle and the money of finding parking during an event.
Gavin House is not as highly rated as Holiday Inn, but it’s still a good option. it is rated 3.5/5 on TripAdvisor, with around 20 reviews.
It also offers free Wi-Fi and a free continental breakfast. Some people mentioned that the breakfast here is more basic than at the Holiday Inn.
Pet Policy
Like the Holiday Inn, Gavin House is an IHG Army Hotel and so has the same pet policy. This includes a $75 fee, plus $7 per night from the 6th night onwatrd. But there are restrictions, including breed restrictions. Read their full pet policy here.

City Mills Hotel is a high-end, historic landmark hotel right in the center of downtown Columbus. Hugging the 15-mile Chattahoochee Riverwalk and with waterfront views, this hotel provides by far the best experience in the area. It also has by far the highest customer review score of any hotel on the list, coming in at a whopping 9.8/10 on Expedia and 5/5 on TripAdvisor.
The hotel’s building is wonderfully preserved, with its original brick walls, hand-wrought metalworks, local art, and more. If you stay here, take some time just to enjoy the building and everything inside.
Free Wifi and laundry facilities are onsite, but the free continental breakfast is another thing that really sets this hotel apart. The breakfast at the hotel features a full breakfast, which includes eggs, biscuits, gravy, oatmeal, cereal, muffins, and more. It also includes Starbucks Coffee, so this is not your typical breakfast!
Military family rates are available for active duty, veterans, and retired military service members. Just present a valid military ID at check in.
Pet Policy
City Mills is pet-friendly and welcomes pets in select rooms. The pet is $100 per pet, per stay, and food and water bowls are available. Service animals are exempt from pet fees.
Courtyard by Marriott Columbus Phenix City

The Courtyard by Marriott is just across the Alabama-Georgia border, in Phenix City, right on the Chattahoochee River. They don’t have any suites available, so if you’re traveling with a lot of family members you may want to consider a different hotel.
But if you’re looking for a standard room, the Courtyard may be the highest-rated hotel on the list outside of City Mills. Courtyard is rated 9/10 on Expedia and 4.5 on TripAdvisor. The pool here is riverfront and stunning, with plenty of sun loungers, an outdoor fireplace, and covered tables and chairs.
Amenities include free wifi, a fitness center, and laundry facilities. They also have a dry cleaning service, which may be helpful if you’re going to a formal ceremony at the Fort. There’s also an EV charging station onsite.
Breakfast is not included here, and while there is free parking it is in a parking garage directly across from the hotel. Onsite parking costs $12 per day.

Pets are not allowed at the Courtyard Marriott. Service animals are allowed.
La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Columbus North

**Suites are great for large groups
La Quinta Inn & Suites is a very highly-rated hotel in Columbus that is also affordable, at around $100 per night. Standard and Deluxe rooms are available, as well as Suites that come with a King Bed, a small refrigerator, and a living room with a couch and flat-screen TV. Some suites come with a sleeper sofa.
Their outdoor pool is small, but nice enough for a little dip at the end of the day. Free breakfast is great here too, with juice, coffee, cereal, pastries, eggs, and a waffle maker. The fitness center has a couple of treadmills, an elliptical, and some weight balls.
Pet Policy
La Quinta is very welcoming to pets. And if you’re staying only a night or two they also have one of the lowest fees of any hotel on this list. Pets can stay here for just $25 per night, per accommodation.
Dogs and cats up to 75 pounds each are welcome to stay here. Call in advance, though, because you’ll need to book specific pet-friendly rooms.
Hampton Inn Columbus South Fort Moore

The Hampton Inn is located only a few minutes drive from the entrance to Fort Benning. Hampton Inn has both standard hotel rooms and full suites available, which come with either 1 King Bed or 2 Queen Beds.
Amenities include free WiFi, a seasonal outdoor pool, and a fitness room. They also rent cribs for $10 a night. Their free breakfast is basic but very nice, with juice, cereal, coffee, pastries, yogurt, and fruit.

Best Western Plus

Best Western Plus Columbus North Fort Moore has great rates and is highly rated. You can rent a room here for as low as $100, depending on the season. They are rated 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor with over 450 reviews. Both standard rooms and suites are available, but one disappointing thing is that the suites only have 1 bed in them. So they aren’t quite set up for large groups of people.
Amenities include free breakfast, complete with eggs, sausage, waffles, coffee, and more. There is also free Wi-Fi, a fitness center, and an outdoor pool. Coffee makers are in every room, and there are also interconnected rooms available if you are traveling with larger groups (or you just want your kids in a separate room!).

Best Western is pet-friendly and allows up to two dogs per room for $30 extra per day.
Comfort Inn

The Comfort Inn is located about 15 minutes from the entrance to Fort Moore. Rates start at under $100 per night, but the hotel still offers a wide range of amenities. These include premium WiFi, an indoor heated swimming pool, free hot breakfast, a fitness center, and free coffee. They also have a laundry room onsite.
Comfort Inn is great if you’re looking for a comfortable stay that won’t break the bank. The free breakfast also helps you save some cash on the road.

No pets are allowed here, so you may want to check out one of the other hotel options if you’re traveling with the pup.

**Good rock-bottom budget option
Days Inn Columbus is a rock-bottom budget option that is still rated pretty well. When I checked, rates here start at just $54 per night. But despite this low price, they are rated 7/10 on Expedia, with over 1000 reviews. They are rated 3/5 on TripAdvisor, which again is still pretty good considering the extremely low price.
Amenities here are pretty standard and include free wifi, an outdoor pool, and onsite guest laundry facilities. But it also comes with free breakfast, so that makes this an even cheaper option and keeps you from spending money eating out while you’re traveling.
Extra beds are not available, but cribs are and there is no extra charge for a crib. Just ask the front staff when you get there.

The Bottom Line
If you’re headed to Fort Moore, there are a lot of different places to stay. Two hotels are inside the Fort, but there are plenty of options in the nearby towns of Columbus, GA, and Phenix City.
