North Carolina is known for its forests, mountains, lakes and rivers. But what’s even more beautiful is the small cities that dot the landscape. One such place is Kernersville, a charming town that has a surprising number of great attractions.

The city also provides excellent access to the outdoor activities nearby. Check out nearby Pilot Mountain or Hanging Rock for some hiking or even canoeing. Hiddenite is only about an hour away too, which is a great place to take the kids.

There are some really good Kernersville hotels, but I’ve also included some options in the nearby cities of Greensboro and Winston Salem.

The Gibson House Inn

419 South Main Street
Kernersville NC 27284
336-515-6400

If you’re looking for a luxurious experience, consider staying at the Gibson House Inn. Built in 1837, the Gibson House is a two-story Victorian-style house with a rich history the owners are happy to share with visitors. So be sure to take a tour while you’re there! There are only 4 rooms at the Inn, so it’s a very small, quaint stay where you can really relax and visit with the other guests and the owners.

There are a variety of services available too, from massages to local tours. You can also have pedicures, manicures, and other spa treatments at the Inn. Take advantage of it and spoil yourself.

This hotel is also very close to the Piedmont Triad International Airport (PTI), making it a great choice for business travelers.

Pet Policy

Pets are welcome, but require advance approval. You also must pay a pet fee, although the amount is not clearly specified on their website. They ask that you contact them prior to booking if you are bringing a pet.

Hampton Inn Kernersville

150 Clayton Forest Drive
Kernersville, North Carolina, 27284

If you’re heading to the area for a conference or other professional event, check out the Hampton Inn & Suites. This is overall the best chain hotel in Kernersville, because the beds are very comfortable, the rooms are luxurious, and the hotel is outstanding – just what you would expect from a Hilton-owned property.

They have a full range of amenities, including a 24-hour business center, an outdoor pool, a free hot breakfast, and free WiFi. The rooms are spacious and feature cozy beds with plush bedding, work desks, and ergonomic chairs, making it easy to get work done or simply relax.

The suites offer additional space with separate living areas, sofa beds, and kitchenettes, ideal for families or guests who require a bit more space.

Pet Policy

The Hampton Inn is pet friendly – you can bring your best friend for a $50 fee per accommodation, per stay. Service animals are welcome and are exempt from fees. A maximum of 2 pets (dogs or cats only) is allowed.

Sleep Inn Kernersville

The Sleep Inn is located just off Interstate 40. It offers an affordable stay that is very comfortable and offers many amenities not even offered by more expensive hotels.

All rooms are designed with free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs with cable channels, mini-fridges, and microwaves. Guests can choose from a variety of room types, including king rooms, double queen rooms, and suites with separate living areas.

Amenities include free coffee, a free weekday newspaper, and a car rental service. They also provide a complimentary hot breakfast each morning, including waffles, eggs, meat, and pastries. There is also an on-site fitness center and business center available for guest use. Additionally, the hotel offers free parking, and pets are welcome for an additional fee.

Pet Policy

No pets are allowed here, so if you are traveling with pup you may want to look into the Hampton Inn.

La Quinta Inn

7905 Triad Center Drive
Greensboro, NC 27409-9758

La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Greensboro Arpt High Point is conveniently located just a 9 minute drive from the Piedmont Triad International Airport (PTI) in Greensboro. Like other La Quinta Inns, it is a highly-rated hotel, with an 8.8/10 on Expedia and 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor.

Amenities include an indoor pool, free wifi, complimentary breakfast, and a gym. They also have premium bedding with pillowtop beds for a great night’s rest.

Pet Policy

This is a pet-friendly hotel. Pets are welcome here for a charge of $25 per accommodation, per night. If you’re staying just one or two nights, that’s a pretty good price. But if you’re planning on being there a week or more, that can really add up – in that case, you may want to check out some of the other pet-friendly hotels on this list.

Up to 2 dogs and cats each weighing a maximum of 75 pounds are welcome. Service animals are exempt from fees. Call in advance, though, because only specific rooms are pet friendly.

Holiday Inn Express Kernersville

1570 Highway 66 S
Kernersville, NC, 27284

Holiday Inn Express Kernersville is conveniently located just a 15 minute drive from Piedmont Triad Airport and right in Kernersville. It is an outstanding midrange option that is rated 8.4/10 on Expedia and 4/5 on TripAdvisor. Not quite as highly rated as La Quinta, but most people still have good experiences staying there.

Amenities include free Wifi, an outdoor swimming pool, and free breakfast. There is also a fitness center, although it is very small, with just a couple of treadmills and a bike. There are no weights in it and very little space to do anything except use those machines.

Pet Policy

Pets are not allowed at the Holiday Inn Kernersville.

Kimpton Cardinal Hotel

51 E 4th St
Winston Salem, NC 27101

Kimpton Cardinal is a luxury IHG hotel in Winston Salem inside the historic RJ Reynolds building and is one of Winston’s luxury hotels. It is right in downtown Winston-Salem, in the city center, putting you in the action – from art, food, and music to the numerous bike and walk trails dotted throughout city. It is the perfect hotel if you’re looking for the ultimate Piedmont-Triad experience.

It is close to Wake Forest University, Old Salem, 4th Street, and much more. If you’re planning on staying here, be sure to check out Salem Lake for excellent opportunities to bike, kayak, or just take a walk through the woods.

The best amenity is being surrounded by the historic art deco architecture and the outstanding interior design. There is a restaurant onsite serving French cuisine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Each hotel room comes with premium beds, finished with luxury bedding. And lots of places claim to have a gym, but the gym at the Kimpton really is a gym, complete with full sets of weights and machines.

One downside, though, is that they charge for Wifi – $14.99 per night, something that most other hotels offer for free. But if you’re staying here, you’re probably more interested in a great experience than saving money.

Pet Policy

Pets stay free here, so this is probably the most pet-friendly hotel on the list. Service animals are also welcome, and food and water bowls are available for your best friend.

Hilton Greensboro Airport

238 NC Highway 68 South Airport at PAI Park
Greensboro, NC 27409-9669

While the Hilton Greensboro Airport is in the Hilton brand, which we usually associated with luxury, this location is actually a mode midrange option that gives you the amenities and management of one of the top hotel brands, without the price. As the name implies, it is basically across the street from the airport, so it provides easy access if you’re flying in. This is a very highly rated hotel – 9/10 on Expedia!

There is a beautiful indoor swimming pool in this hotel, as well as a great fitness center that has ellipticals, treadmills, and bikes. There is also a set of dumbbells, some resistance bands, and plenty of room to workout.

Free wifi is included with your stay, and they also offer a free shuttle to and from the airport. There is an onsite restaurant serving breakfast and dinner.

Pet Policy

This Hilton location is pet friendly. Dogs and cats only are welcome here for a $75 fee per accommodation, per stay. You can bring up to two pets, and service animals are exempt from fees.

One thing to note is that they only allow pets up to 25 pounds, so if you have a medium or large dog this hotel may not be a good option for you.

Stay Away From: Oyo Inn Kernersville

736 E Mountain St
Kernersville, NC, 27284

Oyo Inn Kernersville is a cheap motel located basically in downtown Kernersville. The location is good, but the reviews are not – as low as 1.5/5 on TripAdvisor! Granted, there are only 11 reviews at the time of this writing, but 9 of them rated the hotel “Terrible.”

The Bottom Line
